While in San Francisco we had a great time at the Science Museum.  We saw incredible creatures of every kind as we toured the facility.  

We also attended a viewing of the Planetarium - a massive circular building dedicated to exploring the wonders of the stars.  However, as the show began, it became what I'd like to call an indoctrination on evolution.  Whoopi Goldberg's voice rumbled over the speakers as we toured images of the stars and the show explained to us matter-of-factly how everything in the universe works and how it's all going to end.

It's sometimes hard to get over the fact that this massive institution along with some of the world's brightest scholars and stars like Whoopi would completely diminish the existance of God's hand in the world.  I left feeling frustrated, like a kid whose teacher just tried to destroy his cultural upbringing and worldview by proclaiming the gospel of evolution - which is really a different gospel after all.

After several days I was encouraged as I thought back through history.  For thousands of years (not billions), the people of God have found themselves in a similar situation.  Think of the Apostles in the time of the Roman empire.  The institutions of their day proclaimed a completely different teaching about the world and faith.  In fact, all through world history (since God created Adam) the people of God have faced the institutions who proclaimed various ideologies and so called wisdom of the time.  Yet Christianity has and continues to grow, in spite of such giants.

Don't be amazed at man originated wisdom and know-it-all confidence.  

After all, who got the first doctorate or degree and who started the first colleges and institutions?  (People who decided they were wise enough without those degrees and educations - since they hadn't been created yet - it is all man made).

For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength. -1 Corinthians 1:25
