John Piper's Prayer

John Piper posted a series of prayers on his twitter this past week that I want to share with you, and invite you to pray with me.

Piper is a Pastor in Minneapolis at Bethlehem Baptist Church, and founder of Desiring God - what has become the most read Christian blog in the world. I am a pretty big fan of his books, especially God is the Gospel.

Here is what he shared in 140 characters each:

"My most frequently used acronym to help me pray about encountering God's living and active word. I. O. U. S. One tweet each.

I. "Incline my heart to your testimonies." Psalm 119:36 (Asking for the desire to be real and strong. No pretense. No sham.)

O. "Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law." Psalm 119:18 (Asking that blindness to glory be gone.)

U. "Unite my heart to fear your name." Psalm 86:11 (Asking that my fragmented mind be focused and riveted on this one thing.)

S. "Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love." Psalm 90:14 (Asking that nothing make me more happy than my God.)

Summary of the day. I. O. U. S. Incline. Open. Unite. Satisfy. Four biblical prayers to keep us alive in the word of God."

These are four great prayers to pray when pursuing the Presence and reality of God in our everyday lives. I encourage you to pray them now, and pray them often!
