No More Sermons Need to be Preached
Years ago, as Bible College students in Minneapolis -- we stepped in to the side entry door of student led chapel from the chilly Minnesota snow and cold into the warm room.
We were each handed blank sheets of paper and no pen. This Scripture was the theme of our service that day, Ezekiel 33:31-32:
"My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you to listen to your words, but they do not put them into practice. With their mouths they express devotion, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain. Indeed, to them you are nothing more than one who sings love songs with a beautiful voice and plays an instrument well, for they hear your words but do not put them into practice. "When all this comes true--and it surely will--then they will know that a prophet has been among them."
No more sermons need to be preached - so many of us have heard it all. God judges us on our action, not our knowledge.
We must respond to what we know to do today!
Stop taking notes only to forget to obey what God is speaking to you from his Word. So many of us have heard more sermons than we need. Let's respond to the clear and simple truth of God and let it actually change our lives. For some of us, no more sermons need to be preached, rather the truths of Scripture need to now be lived out.
