For Our Good

Over the past year, I have been frequently praying several prayers of confession about the goodness of God directly from the Word of God:

"God, You are working out all things in my life for my good."

This truth is based off Romans 8:28: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

"God, every good thing in my life is from You, and in Christ, I lack no good thing."

This truth is based off two passages in James 1:17: "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." and Psalms 84:11: "For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless."

"God, You care about the details of my life, and nobody cares more than You."

This truth is based off Psalm 37:23: "The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives."

This is the truth about God. God has given heaven's finest to draw us to Himself, for our good.

God's commandments to worship and obey aren't dry and stale whims so that we can please an insatiable Maker, but rather the merciful pointings of a gracious Creator who wants us to walk in unshakeable joy and peace

For every commandment of God, there is a purpose and a promise. They are to keep us near to Him, for our ultimate good, and to fill our lives with His abundant goodness.

Listen, if we only call ourselves by the name of Jesus, and don't walk the way Jesus calls us to walk, we will miss out on a whole lot of good that God intended for our lives

God is for our good, and His commandments are for our good. He wants us to live a good life, and to bring us to His-good-self for all eternity.
