3 Bible Verses That Remind Us Of God’s Unfailing Love
By Aaron Joseph Hall
Does God really love me? What about when I mess up? Chances are, we have all asked a version of that question. God’s love is so grand and yet so mysterious. As a kid I struggled wrapping my mind around the reality that God is love and that He loves me personally. Maybe you are searching this very question today…wondering if God truly does love you.
I’m here to tell you God not only loves you, He adores you!
It’s easy to think that God loves us based on what we do. In our culture, love is often associated with what you do for someone. There’s this idea that if I want someone to love me I must do this or that. Many take this way of thinking and apply it to God but the truth is that’s not how God loves. He chooses to love us despite our sin, mistakes, and the things we do for Him. He chose to go to the cross and put on display His love for the world.
God loves you because that’s who He is! He doesn’t love you because of what you do!
I want to share with you 3 Bible verses that remind us of God’s unfailing love:
God loves the world – that includes you!
John 3:16: “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” (NLT).
In the Scripture above, replace the word “world” with your name. Now read it again. It makes it more personal, right? God so loved YOU that He gave His one and only Son. That’s how much God loves you–you mean the world to Him!
God’s love never ends!
Lamentations 3:22: “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease” (NLT).
It’s encouraging to know God’s love is both faithful and never ending! You might be reading this and feeling like you’ve messed up too much. His love is not dependent upon your performance and it’s not based on your faithfulness. His love is faithful and never ending regardless of who you are or what you’ve done! That deserves a loud, “Hallelujah!”
Nothing can separate you from God’s love!
Romans 8:38-39: “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NLT).
I cannot say this enough: Nothing you do changes how much God loves you! And add to that the promise of nothing being able to separate you from God’s love! Going beyond just the times you mess up, no other person, no problem, no sin–nothing can separate you from God’s faithful love! Knowing this can help you live each day with the assurance of His presence as you go out in the world and reflect His love to other people.
Today, I want to challenge you to reflect on those Bible verses and write in your journal what the Lord is saying to you. Meditating on God’s promises can strengthen your faith and remind you that not only is God love but He displayed that love for you in His Son Jesus Christ.
