3 Prayers That Can Change Your Life
By Casey Helmick
When I accepted Jesus Christ as He is - my Savior and Redeemer nearly 10 years ago I made a decision to follow His way. In order to get to this life-changing decision I had to pray these short prayers that are deeply rooted in Scripture. I hope they help you in your life journey as much as they helped me.
Prayer #1: Lord, break me.
Scripture: "For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise." Psalm 51:16-17
Prayer: Lord, I ask that you break my spirit so that I can know Your way for me. I've tried for a season to do things my way - that just does not work. You are not looking for my actions of sacrifice. You are looking for a contrite heart - this is what pleases You. Please help me find this new way of living. Amen.
Prayer #2: Lord, mold me.
Scripture: "But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand." Isaiah 64:8
Prayer: Lord, it is You who molded my life into existence. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Everyday I seek what path I should take but it is You who lays the road before me. Please help me embrace how You have molded me and seek to use this unique gifting to accomplish Your purposes. God I trust You alone. Amen.
Prayer #3: Lord, show me.
Scripture: "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
Prayer: Lord, I want to know Your way. In the small things and in the big things I only want to do what You would have for me. I know that You have called me to love You - help me do this more. I know that You have called me to love my neighbor - help me to do this more. I know that You have called me to share Your love with this world - help me to share about You to someone today. And if there is anything else You would like of me, God, please show me. Amen.
