3 Ways to Incorporate Scripture into Your Daily Life | Chelsea Crockett

Sometimes we forget the importance and awesomeness of scripture. It’s Jesus’s words onto paper, that allow us to walk like him, talk like him, and live like him. How cool is that?

I know for me, scripture memorization has always been a challenge. It’s something that I didn’t realize would make a difference in my spiritual life until I made it a point to give it a try. With so many ways to incorporate it into your daily life, why not give it a try? It has far more benefits than you think!

Incorporate it into your daily quiet times.

If you like to do daily quiet times where you spend uninterrupted time with God, then what better time to learn scripture than when you’re already spending time with him? After you finish journaling, reading your Bible, etc., devote 10 minutes to scripture memorization. I like to write a few verses on separate notecards to keep in my Bible that I can easily access. Then once I’m finished, I try to refer back to them throughout my day or before I go to sleep at night!

Put scripture around places that you’ll often see it.

I love writing scripture on sticky notes and sticking them to various places that I know I’ll see throughout my day. For example, you could write Psalm 139:14 (“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”) on a sticky note and stick it on your mirror. This is a beautiful reminder that we could all use first thing when we wake up in the morning, and you’ll remember it when you read it every day!

Another place to put a sticky note is on your steering wheel. Psalm 121:7-8 is the perfect verse for this. It says, “The Lord will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” Read over it every time you get in your car. It’s sort of like a mini prayer and you’ll memorize it in no time!

Download a scripture memorization app.

These apps are one of the best ways to memorize scripture. If you’re like me, then you always have your phone on you. So, what better way to do so?!

There are several different apps that allow you to select the verse you’re wanting to memorize and will encourage you to learn it throughout the day. Some apps will send you reminders to read over them every few hours or so. Others will even make you type out the verse to make sure you know it before moving on to the next one! Pretty cool, right?

I encourage you to really devote time to scripture memorization. So many good things come from it, you just have to dive in and discover them yourself!
