Tie Your Life to Something Great

God has called each of us to something great!

We were made for more than the mundane moments of life, although God often uses the mundane moments of life towards his great purposes.

We were made to show God's glory to the world, and to extend his kingdom on earth.

Don't settle for little, when God has called you to something great!

We so often hear this sentiment in church meetings and special events, but what does it really mean?

Here are two things the Bible is very clear about, about our great purpose:

1. The Great Commandment

"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment." (Matthew 22:36-38)

This has been called our great commandment.

Jesus was clear about what was most important in life. This is the main, great thing God calls us to in life: love God with everything you are.

This starts by believing in His Son Jesus, and what He did on the cross for our sins. "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent." (John 6:29)

Our love for God is often seen by our love for others: "Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen." (1 John 4:20)

2. The Great Commission

"Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20)

This has been called our great commission.

God has placed us in this world to pass on our love for God - to show others the way to His Son - and to guide them in how to live for Him.

There is far more greatness in the great commandment and the great commission than any of the "great" draws of this world

Are you living out your great calling?

It has been said that "our future can often be boiled down to a few of our daily habits."

What do your daily habits say about you? Are you living out your great love for God, and showing His great love to others in practical, daily ways?

Take a moment to consider small ways you can walk out this great calling on a daily, habitual basis.
