Reaction to Charlie Kirk’s Assassination Ignites Spiritual Awakening, Return to God, Church

By Alex Murashko

On the eve of the first Sunday since the assassination of Christian apologist and political/cultural fireball Charlie Kirk, a spiritual awakening is being witnessed that includes a return to God by those who strayed from Him, and an unmeasurable wave of non-believers seeking Jesus.

Invitations to church are on the rise.

A global movement is sparking.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. – Romans 1:16

“God is already taking a horrific event—one born out of demonic influence, meant for evil—and flipping the script to bring about good,” stated pastor and author Chuck Tate in a message to Think Eternity News. “My son’s girlfriend, Olivia Weldon, a junior in high school, was so moved that she launched a Romans 1:16 challenge on Instagram Reels (similar to the ice bucket challenge).

“She began with these words: ‘This week, evil came and stole the voice of a believer who was not afraid to speak out for the Gospel of Jesus. But neither am I.’ She then quoted Romans 1:16 and nominated three students to do the same. My son Ashton, a senior, was deeply shaken by Charlie Kirk’s death. He accepted the challenge and told me, ‘Dad, it’s going to spread like wildfire!’ And it already is.”

Tate, who is the pastor of RockChurch in Illinois, said there is “no doubt a growing movement is taking place.” He states that his Saturday night service attendance was significantly higher than normal.

His cohost from Revival Town Podcast shared with him that his young adult daughter, Joy, is in a group chat with several friends who are expressing a desire to attend church this weekend and are looking for where to go.

“Yes, God is moving—and it’s clear this is only the beginning,” Tate said.

Behold, I will do a new thing,

Now it shall spring forth;

Shall you not know it?

I will even make a road in the wilderness

And rivers in the desert. – Isaiah 43:19

It’s reported that Kirk's assassination has triggered global tributes, including during a million-strong march in London organized by free-speech activist Tommy Robinson. Also, condemnations from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, while sparking backlash against public figures celebrating the killing and fueling discussions on political violence.

Professor Jason Robinson from Lee University told Think Eternity News that he is preparing a message to share with college students.

“Revival is never born in comfort…it’s born in crisis,” Robinson stated. “Charlie’s voice may be silent, but his courage is now our assignment. The enemy thought death would stop a movement, but God is raising an army. Revival is coming.”

According to reports, Kirk’s organization, Turning Point USA, has received 18,000 new chapter requests since his wife, Erika, spoke publicly for the first time since her husband’s death. Prior to her tribute, TPUSA had 9,000 college chapters and 1100 high school chapters prior to this.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28
