Rededicate 250: Asking God to Revive Us

By Alex Murashko

While hope appeared abundant at Rededicate 250 held in Washington, D.C. on Sunday (May 17, 2026), a quick scan of news headlines in the following days did not reflect an immediate direction change for America.

What did we expect?

Evil still abounds and Good is still underreported.

Event organizers, speakers and thousands of attendees on the National Mall aimed at turning America back to God with worship, prayer and praise.

Pastor Samuel Rodriguez said from the podium that during the 250th anniversary celebration of the nation’s founding that “we gather to prayerfully declare the following…America is not done with God. And God is not done with America.”

“Let us pray,” Rodriguez said. “Father, we come before you today not merely to remember, but to rededicate. Not just to reflect on history, but to realign our future."

Remember, rededicate, and revive.

On Monday, when he was asked by Trace Gallagher of Fox News whether it’s time for Americans to reaffirm and refocus on being a nation of prayer, Pastor Jack Hibbs said, “Absolutely. We got away from that as a nation. We had prayer in public schools. Then it was taken away. How has that gone for us? We've removed the 10 Commandments. How has that gone for us?”

“You look at our founding documents, the Mayflower Compact, our Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence, all referencing God over and over again.”

Hibbs described Rededicate 250 as amazing, including the prayer and worship. “We need to get back to that. We've tried everything else and we've come up bankrupt. Why not get back to these foundational basics that made America great? What truly made America great was our spirit of worshiping God and not being ashamed of that.”

A Spirit of Worship

Revive. Look it up in the Bible. The Psalms and other books in the Bible are full of verses with pleas for God to revive His people.

Here are just a few:

Then we will not turn back from You;
Revive us, and we will call upon Your name. (Psalms 80:18)

For thus says the High and Lofty One

Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:

“I dwell in the high and holy place,

With him who has a contrite and humble spirit,

To revive the spirit of the humble,

And to revive the heart of the contrite ones. (Isaiah 57:15)

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me;

You will stretch out Your hand

Against the wrath of my enemies,

And Your right hand will save me. (Psalms 138:7)

Calls for revival have increased in America. But what is being asked for?

Maybe it is for something we already have:

A thirst for truth.

An invitation from God.

And the desire to be refreshed…

To be revived by His living water.

“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” (John 7:38)
