Remember These 2 Things on Memorial Day 2023

By Greg Laurie

What should Christians remember on Memorial Day 2023?

For many, Memorial Day is a nice day off to spend with family and friends. Or it’s a kick-off to the summer holidays and an opportunity to barbecue.

But for others, it’s a time of deep sadness — for they remember the ultimate sacrifice their loved ones made defending our freedoms.

Here are a couple things we should all remember this year.

The Ultimate Sacrifice

Let’s remember those that gave their lives defending our county. These courageous soldiers gave their lives for what I believe is still the greatest country on the face of the earth: The United States of America!

I think it’s sad that flying the stars and stripes seems to have gone out of fashion for many. It’s the least we can do to honor the fallen.

Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13 NKJV).

Remember to Pray

Secondly, as Americans—and as Christians—let’s remember to pray for our country.

America has always needed God. But at this time, it’s more apparent than ever. Culture is rapidly shifting—and it doesn’t appear to be in the right direction.

We need to start praying like we never prayed before.

One person said this:

“If all the sleeping people will wake up, if all the lukewarm people will fire up, if all the dishonest people will confess up, if all the disgruntled people will cheer up, if all the estranged people will make up, if all the gossipers will shut up, if all the true soldiers will stand up, and if all the church people will pray up, then we can have a revival.”

But just as surely as we need to ask for His provision, we need to ask for His forgiveness; the Bible says, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear” (Psalms 66:18 NKJV).

If you want to see a revival, you need to confess your sin, humble yourself, and pray.

If you want to see a revival, you need to confess your sin, humble yourself, and pray.

Let’s do that. Let’s pray for the healing of our land.

Happy Memorial Day 2023.
