Take Time Today to Take in God’s Greatness

“I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.”Psalm 77:12 (NIV)
The psalmist David spoke often about meditating on God—on His goodness—on His works and His ways. There is something deeply strengthening about intentionally thinking on the goodness of God and the marvelous works of His hands.
Our world clearly displays the greatness and awesomeness of God—His infinite creativity—and the reality that He is upholding all things. When we meditate on His greatness, our faith grows and everything else finds its proper perspective.
We all have days when we quietly ask, Am I strong enough to do this? God, are You really going to take care of this?
In those moments, I reflect on Hebrews 1:3 and remind myself who is actually holding everything together:
“The Son is the radiance and only expression of the glory of [our awesome] God… upholding and maintaining and propelling all things [the entire physical and spiritual universe] by His powerful word [carrying the universe along to its predetermined goal]…” (AMP)
He is upholding.
He is maintaining.
He is propelling all things.
Think about that.
What keeps the sun and stars in place? What keeps the earth rotating on its axis? What keeps the ocean from crossing the boundary of the sand?
Almighty God.
And if He is powerful enough to sustain the universe, He is faithful enough to sustain you.
If you are facing a challenge right now and feel like you are about to cave in, begin to think…and say…“God, I trust You to hold me up.”
You do not have to make it on your own. You have the God of the universe supporting you.
The next time you have the opportunity, step outside. Look up at the evening sky. Take in the stars. Consider what kind of power it takes to keep this vast, almost inexhaustible universe functioning perfectly.
Then remember this:
If God, through His Word, can do all of that—He can also hold you up, orchestrate your steps, and direct every single detail of your life.
Take time today to take in His greatness.
It will strengthen your faith, steady your heart, and remind you that you are being upheld by the same God who holds the stars.
