Actor Tim Allen’s Faith Journey Includes New Revelation

By Alex Murashko

Taking a deep dive into the Bible can produce unexpected results. Such is the case for actor and comedian Tim Allen.

“Never took the time in all my years to ever read and really read the Bible,” Allen shared on Elon Musk’s X. “Currently almost through the Jerusalem Bible Old Testament and almost done with the Prophets. Next up to New Testament. So far amazing and not at all what I was expecting.”

At a time when celebrity salvation stories are on the rise, the primetime sitcom star of “Home Improvement”, “Last Man Standing,” and the upcoming “Shifting Gears” has been public about his faith journey for years.

CBN News reported that in 2011, during an interview on ABC’s “20/20,” Allen said he began to question God and faith after his father was fatally struck by a drunk driver when the actor was just 11 years old.

The CBN News article continues:

Allen said he was, for years, a regular churchgoer, but admitted he didn’t “like the idea of God” and was “constantly a cynic” on matters of faith. But he ultimately came around and eventually began to see God as what he called “The Builder.”

“I always do ask …The Builder, ‘What did You want me to do?'” he said at the time. “And I do ask it, but you’ve got to be prepared for the answer.”

Several leaders in the Christian community nationwide responded to Allen’s X post with encouragement and sharing witness to the power of the Gospel.

"Tim Allen's journey through the Bible is such a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to dive into God’s Word and discover its life-changing truths,” Illinois pastor and author Chuck Tate told Think Eternity News. “Tim’s testimony confirms that the Bible is not just a book, but a collection of 66 books that contain 1,189 chapters, 31,102 verses, and nearly 784,000 words of God Himself speaking to us. There’s not another book like it. It’s literally alive!”

Pastor Sammy Lopez, who is an evangelist from Orlando, Florida, said that being intentional about reading through the entire Bible can be life changing. “I love that Tim Allen was raw and real on how he saw the Scriptures in a new light. If he keeps this going, his newfound faith will take him to infinity and beyond!”

Other leaders echoed the life-changing implications of reading through the Word of God.

“Allen's exploration and public sharing of the Bible demonstrate that no matter who you are or when you start, the transformative power of the Bible lies in the Author behind it,” Florida pastor and writer Aaron Joseph Hall told Think Eternity News.

Think Eternity founder Matt Brown said he was thrilled to see Allen’s post about “what the Bible is meaning to him as he reads through it.”

“So many people have a Bible at home but far fewer people are picking it up, reading it and experiencing how life changing it is,” Brown said. “The Bible is God’s Word to us and has so many benefits for our life.

“I myself have experienced how powerful the Bible is in my life and so I read it frequently. It fills me with peace, strength, guidance and hope whenever I make time for it.”
