To Haiti with Love
Wanted to make you aware of an amazing opportunity. A friend of ours, Tim Schmoyer of StudentMinistry.org recently went on his second relief trip to Haiti since the tragic earthquake there. While there he reported that "Hatians are asking for Bibles more than food, water or tarps!
Bibles are rare and expensive ..." He also stated that his small mission team of youth leaders and students from the US pooled their money and bought 350 Bibles themselves.
While there are many ways to continue to help Haiti (ie - Text Haiti to 90999 to donate $10 off your next phone bill to Red Cross), and you have probably already participated in one way or another (It's amazing how these small gifts, sometimes called "Slack-tivism" have added up), this is a current unique opportunity.
It seems God is bringing much spiritual good out of this tragedy - confirming a video of revival in Haiti I watched with amazement recently. This spiritual openess may not last forever. People are very spiritually hungry, even requesting and desiring Bibles, but cannot afford them. In America, we have more Bibles than any other nation in the history of the world.
Providing a Bible for a spiritually hungry Haitian is very affordable through the organization Tim and his group went on mission with - only about $1.25
I had to spread the word. Michelle and I are praying about what we can do to help on behalf of Thinke. If you are interested in helping towards this, you can give securely through our online giving page and designate the gift towards Haiti Bibles. 100% of your gift will go straight towards this project immediately. If you would like to go straight to the source, Tim has told us we can make donations to Adventures in Missions securely on their online donations page here & be sure to also designate towards "Haiti Bibles."
